The Stories We Weave for Healing and Illness
Crucial to healing are the stories and narratives that one contends with and recites on a regular basis.
While the voices that one hears may be construed as originating from oneself, often times they are reflective of statements that are enshrined into their consciousness from meaningful peoples in one’s life — such as one’s parents, siblings, spouses, partners, friends, teachers, co-workers, and healthcare providers — some of which can influence an individual’s healing in positive or negative ways.
To fully heal, one must consider the narratives that he/she is continuing to create and bring awareness if such stories are instrumental to their struggles and serve as opportunities to achieve wellness and reinforced healing.
