TAI YI JIN HUA ZONG ZHI – THE SECRET OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER

Tai Yi Jin Hua Zong Zhi (Purpose of the Grand Supreme Golden Flower, also known in the West as The Secret of the Golden Flower) is a Daoist inner alchemical scripture attributed to Lu Dong-Bin of the Tang Dynasty.  Instructions offered by the text, which was compiled in the early Qing Dynasty, have been revealed, analyzed, and practiced by many Daoist traditions.  As such, there are numerous interpretations associated with the manual, yet all with the common purpose of aiding the reader/cultivator in activating and illuminating an inner light that blossoms into a jin hua/golden flower or the “true” awakening of consciousness.

Through meditative techniques that include visualization and insights, the cultivator can use these practices to treat diseases, to achieve heighted awareness/concentration, and to render an understanding on the insignificance of the self as one merges with the shen-divine.

Coming from ShangQing Daoism, Jeffrey will share the techniques practiced by his Daoist lineage and guide participants in the alchemical stages of this practice, including preparation, harmonizing the breath, meditative postures, common transient signs and symptoms of blockage or progress, and the different metaphors used to describe each phase of inner alchemy.  Generally practiced in a sitting position, this Daoist meditation has been considered one of the foundations to other Daoist internal training.
