Ge Hong and the Influence of Alchemy in Chinese Medicine

Overview:

Chinese medicine has historically been rooted in Daoist concepts and practices, such as alchemy with the emphasis on transmutation of one’s constitution, enhancement of one’s lifespan, and unraveling of one’s destiny. Intrinsic to this approach is the realization that alchemy is based on the development of transformative fire and the solubility associated with different liquid states (notion of fire and water), with the belief that refinement and attainment of such creative forces can impact the jing-essence of the individual toward a conscious awareness of their shen-spirit.

This seminar will focus on the guiding principles of alchemy and Chinese medicine and how its modalities (such as acupuncture and herbal medicine) can be utilize to generate alchemical changes that afford the patient/client an avenue toward a more enriched and conscious life.
